Topic DNS - Transitioning from an Attack Vector to a Security Control The Domain Name System (DNS) has long been a recognized attack target. Today, with 90% of malware leveraging DNS at various stages of the cyber kill chain, DNS has also become a top attack vector. However, the tables can be turned on the threat actors by leveraging DNS and the associated DNS platform as an efficient and effective security control. Evolution: Automated threat analysis using an open source tool(pytm). We will talk through the making of pytm and then do a demo. Speaker Biography Steve has been at Infoblox since 2010 and is currently a Principal Solutions Architect in the Bay Area. Steve is team lead within Infoblox’s Security Virtual Team and is a certified Infoblox Threat Intelligence Advisor, CISSP, and CCSP. Prior to joining Infoblox, Steve was a Network Engineer for a large financial firm for over a decade and also managed DNS and other platforms for a regional ISP in the late 90s and early 2000s
